Automatic listening
Start sessions when another app uses your microphone, with control over which apps can start them.
Turn it on
In Settings → Listening, turn on Automatic listening. Sessions start when another app uses your microphone and open as the small floating logo.
Choose its starting mode in the same settings. It defaults to Scribe; choose Scribe + Assist to add researched answers. This preference is separate from manual starts. You can switch during an active session using its mode control, or the s / a badge in Mini-floating. Learn about both modes.
If Assist minutes are exhausted and Scribe minutes remain, automatic listening starts in Scribe regardless of the saved preference. Your preference is kept. If neither mode has minutes, a session does not start.
Choose when it starts
Choose Any app uses the microphone to allow calls, dictation and voice recordings in any app to start a session.
For more control, choose A selected app uses the microphone, then Choose apps…. Search the list and check the apps you want. The selection count confirms your choices; use Change… to edit them or Add another app… to find an app that is not listed.
Review the selection when switching call apps. Automatic listening still requires completed setup, audio access and a working account with available minutes.
Stop or start yourself
You can still start Scribe + Assist or Scribe from the menu bar. Each has its own keyboard shortcut. These actions do not change the mode used for automatic starts. After you stop a session, lisnio waits for microphone use to end before starting automatically again. With selected apps, this applies only to the apps you chose.
Turning automatic listening off lets you start sessions yourself. Use the session’s Pause or End control when you also need to stop an active capture; changing a preference is different from ending a conversation.
For a session you are already in, see Pause, resume and end.
