Privacy policy
Effective October 24, 2026. iPranay Inc. provides lisnio and is responsible for the personal information we process to run the app, website and account services. This policy explains what we use, why we use it, and your choices.
What lisnio hears
You choose the microphone and whether to include speaker audio or a selected app. During listening, live audio is sent to our online transcription service. Automatic listening starts only after setup and when you enable it. Pause stops capture, audio streaming and listening minutes; End closes the session. Naming and summaries may finish from saved text afterward without restarting listening.
Before recording other people, make sure they know and agree. lisnio cannot obtain their permission for you.
What leaves your Mac
In Scribe + Assist mode, relevant conversation text, your instructions, and selected context are processed by our online services to find useful answers. Research questions are used for web searches. Selected local notes can be included when memory is enabled. lisnio can also send a short audio clip when it needs the original speech to understand the conversation. In Scribe mode, transcribed text is processed online to name the session; research, summaries and memory learning do not run. Saving audio locally is a separate choice from sending live audio for transcription.
What stays in your workspace
Transcripts, questions, answers and summaries remain in your chosen local folder until you delete them. Audio recordings are saved on your Mac for your own playback. We don’t store those recordings on our servers. The “Save audio recordings locally” setting starts on for new installations; you can turn it off in Settings → Workspace. A saved choice to turn it off is preserved when you update. Detailed diagnostics are off by default; enabling them saves conversation text, generated responses and technical details locally for troubleshooting. Existing files are kept when you change either setting.
To remove a conversation, move it to Trash in the library, then open Settings → Workspace → Recently deleted and choose Delete. Permanent deletion removes its saved audio, transcript, answers and diagnostics from this workspace. Backups, exported files and separately saved memory notes remain independent copies.
Account and billing records
Your email identifies your account and is used by our email service to deliver sign-in and recovery codes. Codes expire and can only be used once. We check sign-in requests to help prevent automated abuse. Your connection is saved securely on your Mac. lisnio keeps account, device, usage and billing records to provide access and account for minutes. Session usage includes listening duration, minutes used, time spent in each mode, and the latest synced session title. Titles remain in account history when a local recording is hidden or deleted; renaming a recording updates its account title when it syncs. Usage can also include a word count calculated on your Mac from recognized speech; the count is stored without the transcript text. Device names and session expiry dates support device management. Hashed email and network identifiers help limit sign-in and email abuse. The account database does not store raw audio or conversation request bodies.
Troubleshooting services receive account and activity identifiers, timing, usage and error information; raw audio and full conversation text are excluded by default. The separate “Share session diagnostics” setting is off by default. If you enable it, relevant conversation excerpts, research questions, recorded decisions, displayed answers and source links are sent for troubleshooting. Session activity and accounting remain available without sharing that text.
Our payment service handles checkout and payment information under its own privacy policy, available during checkout.
Deleting the account from Settings → Account removes your email mapping and connected device records from lisnio, cancels your subscription immediately, and prevents further account access. Session titles are removed. Financial and numerical usage records remain for payment reconciliation and disputes. Local conversation files, your backups and records held by processors are separate.
Website analytics
We use website analytics to understand traffic and performance and count public page visits, download clicks and help links. We do not use analytics cookies, persistent visitor identifiers, session recordings or advertising trackers. These website statistics are separate from your lisnio account and conversation content.
Our analytics services temporarily process your IP address and browser information to estimate daily visitors. Stored visit events do not contain your raw IP address or browser identification string. Visits are not linked across days or to your account. Visit-event data is processed in the United States and retained for up to one year. Traffic and performance reports cover up to six months and installer request counts up to three months.
Our private account reports include listening time, sessions, mode, activity dates, service costs and billing. Detailed daily product activity is kept for 90 days and removed when you delete your account. The separate financial and numerical usage records described above retain their existing reconciliation and retention purposes. These reports contain no conversation audio or transcript text and are not sent to public website analytics.
Analytics preferences
Optional website analytics stay off in the EU/EEA, UK and Switzerland, or when the service cannot determine a country. You can turn them off for this browser elsewhere. We also honour Do Not Track. Your choice is saved as a browser preference and applies to both website analytics services; it does not affect account usage and billing records needed to run lisnio. Aggregate installer request counts contain no visitor or account identifiers.
Optional analytics stay off if your browser prevents saving preferences.
The website also stores your chosen theme and appearance in your browser. You can clear these preferences through your browser’s site storage controls.
Service providers and retention
We use information to provide listening and research, authenticate your account, track minutes, process billing, prevent abuse and resolve support requests. We do not sell your personal information or use conversation content for targeted advertising. Our providers may process information outside your country, where local laws may allow authorities to access it. We share information with them for these service purposes and when legally required to respond to valid requests or protect the service.
Account records are kept while needed to provide access. Accounting records are kept separately for reconciliation, fraud prevention, disputes and legal obligations; account deletion does not immediately erase them. Providers’ processing and retention follow their own policies; processing records may not be immediately deleted. Contact us for information about our service providers. To prevent repeat free trials, we retain a protected digest of a verified email after account deletion; this record does not contain the email address or conversation content. We use access controls and protected connections, but no service can guarantee absolute security.
Your choices and privacy requests
You can pause or end listening, disable automatic listening or memory, choose whether to save audio and diagnostics, delete local conversations, and disconnect devices or delete your account in Settings. You can also withdraw system permissions in macOS settings. Withdrawing processing permission may prevent the related feature from working.
To request access, correction, deletion or a copy of account information, or to raise a privacy concern, email lisnio@ipranay.com. We may need to verify that the account belongs to you. Your rights depend on applicable law, and some records may need to be retained. lisnio is for adults and is not directed to children under 18. We will update this page and notify account holders of material privacy changes.
